Description
..SOLD…WW2 Front seam fixed bale helmet, complete with liner. The shell retains 98% of its olive drab color, which has darkened with age. ?The shell has one??fracture on left side of front around visor area which measures about an inch and a half. Probably due to combat. I’ve encountered this on various U.S. helmets. The helmet chinstraps are present?and in beautiful condition. The brass latches on chinstrap?have tarnished, showing its age. The interior of shell still has its original?lighter olive drab paint which?is in excellent shape and condition. The liner olive drab paint is at about 98%, and bears the rank of corporal on front. The front of liner has a crack on left side of visor. The liners?leather chinstrap is present, a bit dried, and?has started to tear a small bit on left side. The liner webbing?system on inside?is all there, still in clean shape?and is stamped 6197, and also bears the initials E.F. which is written on inside on strap.?The inside dome bears the Westinghouse factory stamp.?? You couldn’t give these helmets away back in the early 1980s, and nowadays front seam fixed bale helmets?are getting more difficult to find,?and only going up in price. A solid piece of WW2 history. Priced to sell.
