Description
Here we have a great first time collector dagger. It has tons of character with easy to attribute pieces. First we have a WKC style pommel with proper pebbling for a WKC. there are some dings on it from being dropped over its life time. The grip is celluloid over wood and has a silver grip wire with nice age appropriate patina. The grip itself has a large crack running down the length and some smaller ones near the top. The pommel is left a little loose to prevent further damage. The cross gourd shows the correct left over right oak leaves for a WKC. The ferrule is steel with some mild oxidation. The blade is the correct length and has been slightly sharpened, but the tip retains its factor edge, which isn’t sharp. The blade shows some polishing evidence but you can still see most of the cross graining. The scabbard is not a WKC but rather made by the SMF firm as noted by the steel shell, two flush throat screws and the aluminum hanger mounts. This was likely swapped out at some point as an upgrade from a damaged piece, but could have been done in war time as well for one reason or another. The throat is attached to double runners and there is a counter balance in the scabbard tip.
