Description
Holy Cow! This thing is a BEAST! It weighs well over 2 lbs without the scabbard!? The condition is excellent through out, showing only light stains and wear (compared to most others you will find). The Collins Hartford logo is rather light, but still mostly visible. There are a few small chips to the horn handle. The Horn handle seems to be less common, compared to the wood which one will encounter.? The scabbard is killer! It grades excellent with only minor dings and scratches. The belt loop is still fantastic too! A super fun piece that everyone will want to know more about!
The machetes were procured for inclusion in the pioneer kits, a set of camp making tools issued to each active field unit at BN and CO level.
Commonly said to have been Spanish American War made, it is believed they were contracted to be made later then 1918, but never made it to wide spread distribution.
