*SOLD* This?WW2 USMC?helmet is painted wartime olive drab and retains 98% of its original textured finish.? On the?front?of pot is a?gorgeous marine corp stenciled insignia in black paint. ?On rear of helmet, there is another stunner, a?painted?yellow??”4” over a red square indicating the 4th Marine division. With these two insignias combined, it puts this helmet over the top. ?The pot is front seam swivel bale and is stamped?”51 A” and “S” inside. Chinstraps are in?great condition for what they have?seen. Liner is painted?olive drab, retains its original paint,?chinstrap, and wartime webbing , and is from the Westinghouse?manufacturer. Inside liner band is stamped what looks like ”NC009QN16834 GLP.CO”. ?As far?history is concerend, during WW2, the 4th marine division took part in 4 major amphibious assualts. These were in the battles of Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.?This division?suffered more than 17,000 caualties. The unit was awarded 2 Presidential Unit Citations,and a Navy Unit Commendation. It was deactivated on November 28, 1945, only to be reactivated in 1966 as the only division in the marine forces reserve.? An outstanding opportunity here to acquire a rarely seen?piece of?
