Description

This is a fully loaded model 1059 in the Eickhorn catalogue. The triple etched blade has only the smallest signs of wear and oxidation and easily grades a 9 out of ten and is near mint in all respects. The motifs show a boar getting attacked by hunting dogs with a hunter in pursuit and a hummingbird on one side. The other side is a hunter shooting at deer and a pheasant.

The Eickhorn logo is the early double oval version which makes this blade all the more appealing in my book. The hilt and clamshell still have most of the original gilding and is a real pleasure to examine! My favorite part on these is the Eickhorn squirrel on the front! The clam shell is awesome and depicts a standing stag. The natural ivory grip plates have taken on a yellow tone, as they are un cleaned. The 6 grip acorns are all matching which is nice, since many go missing and are miss matched when replaced. The top one on each side spin a bit but this is ok as they are literally just a tack nail with an acorn head. The dagger is completed by a good condition scabbard with a crease on one side of the leather. The upper and lower fittings are matching numbers (20) and are in great shape. The original frog looks great as well and is complete with the D ring which is often broken off. The back of the frog is finished with green felt to protect the wearer’s uniform. A stunning and impressive piece in hand that is sure to be a focal point of your collection!
