SMGO-0831 2nd model Luftwaffe dagger by Spitzer With Gold hangers

This is a fantastic dagger and an uncommon maker! The blade on this Spitzer is top notch on the maker side with some small water spots on the other side. Still, with the spots, its a very impressive blade. The grip is unique to spitzer in my opinion being a shinier more top shelf looking celluloid if that makes any sense. Also, the typical Spitzer copper spring wire that at first glance always looks like two wire braid to me. It’s something that really sets these daggers apart form the other makers. The wire holes are drilled a little further down then we usually see but I’ve noticed on Spitzer grips is that they are consistently inconsistent with the drill holes. Nothing to worry about though. The scabbard is a home run being dent free and having an gorgeous airplane grey finish that is nearly 100%. The aluminum suspension bands contrast nicely against the dark grey. To set it off it comes with a nice portepee with a bit of oxidation on the ball end. Also included is a handsome set of deluxe style hangers with remnants of a gold finish. In the trade these are called “General’s hangers” but I think they would have been for any higher rank officer who fancied a nicer set of hangers. A fully loaded dagger here that would be well at home in a more refined collection!
