Description
Italy, WWI / WWII – Baionetta Modello 1891 Mannlicher-Càrcano by Terni. This bayonet was designed for use on the 6.5mm Mannlicher-Carcano Modello 1891 bolt action Infantry Rifle, which was the standard rifle used by the Italian armed forces in both World Wars. The drop forged 11 ¾ inch long blackened blade features a single fuller, single edge, spear point tip and partial tang. The blade Shows heavy oxidation. The scabbard with this bayonet came in three variants: leather with brass mounts, leather with steel mounts and full blued sheet metal. This is the earliest variant. The black leather scabbard body remains nice and dark with all of its stitching intact. The top and bottom fitting are both made of brass. The lower is secured with four rivets and the top with the screw holding the frog lug. The iron hilt is stamped on the cross guard “Terni”. The spring-loaded push button is seized.
