Description

When this came in I had to look up the RZM code (M7/103) because it didn’t seem familiar. When I found out it was Hack Werks I started looking for more examples and researching the firm. They are known to make HJ daggers, but it was a smaller “cottage” style maker and they did not put out many when compared to the big firms. So this is possibly the only example available for sale and might be the only one you will see for a long time. The condition is good, with typical wear on the zinc based hilt. The Bakelite grip plates are in good shape with just some small chips where it looks like they came right from the producer that way, as they are near areas where the blade smith would have been using tools. The HJ diamond is just about flawless and has that nice “wiggle” that collectors like to see. The blade is fantastic with only a bit of sharpening and most of the cross graining still present. This is a late war example, thus, no motto. I would say this was a barely used example. The Scabbard is very nice on this example also, with most of the original paint still present, however there is an “impression” in it which makes it appear a little flat. The Leather snap is in fine working order with this example as well. All in all, for a dagger that was designed to be used daily as a field knife..this one is in stellar shape. If you collect HJ daggers by maker, don’t wait on this piece!
