Description

Here we have an early all nickel fitting Pack dagger. A light edge has been put on the dagger post factory, but this is fairly typical of these. The grip is snug fit and the discerning SA dagger collector will appreciate that there are no “wrench” marks on the pommel nut. This leads us to believe the dagger has never been disassembled and messed with, at least, not by someone with the wrong tools. It’s pretty tough to find them like this as most owners at some point get the itch to fiddle with the dagger and the tamper signs are usually evident. The lower guard is marked “Nrh”, which is one of the 5 or so known areas that Pack had contracts to supply daggers for. The guards so the nice early style hand enhancing file marks on the grooves. The scabbard is in great shape overall and it’s evident that it was refinished at some point long ago. We know from period ads that companies specialized in re finishing scabbards and such. Due to the finish material and quality of the finish, this might be an example of an SA mann that transferd to the NSKK and sent out his scabbard to be converted. The finish resembles early anodizing without the lacquer clear coat. Regardless, the job was done very well compared to some of the “field” paint jobs we see. The ball end has a drop mark which is typical on these, but it still displays very nicely.
