SMGL-108 WW2 Italian Bayonet *SOLD

Well, here we go again with a fairly easy to obtain bayonet in not so easy to obtain condition! This is likely the best Italian ww2 era bayonet you will come across, unless you are fortunate enough to come across a dead mint un issued one. This is what I would call a near mint un issued bayonet, likely raided from a supply depot or truck. It was obtained from a vet who brought back an Afrika Korps tropical officers belt and the Italian bayonet was attached to it with an ultra rare tropical/Afrika Korps K98 Frog! It’s a typical vet move, grab a few items, forget what goes to what and just try to make something neat to bring back home! Wow, man I love the history of this stuff! Never been in a collection. The blade is about as mint as you can get with only the slightest bit of oxidation and wear to the tip from getting pulled in and out of the scabbard. The bluing on the blade is really amazing! The edge is factory sharp with no wear at all…I mean this thing was NEVER used. The grip wood is amazing too. All the ones you see for sale are beat to crap and the wood is nasty looking. This is the total opposite. Now, this was sitting in a California garage for a very long time before it was made available to us, so there is a bit of light oxidation on the butt end, cross guard and upper and lower scabbard fittings. The upper fitting is actually really sweet because the frog protected it all these years. When I removed the frog there was some crystalized salt under it on the scabbard and I choose to leave it there. It might be crystalized Libyan sea salt from the war man!!!! Who knows!??!?! Anyway, the scabbard leather is nice and soft and in good shape. There are some dings and scuffs to the leather from being tossed from box to box all these years. Overall, this a top grade item that will be a fantastic addition for the collector looking for a superior condition example in a market flooded with run of the mill examples.
