Description
This fantastic signature collection was brought back by U.S. Army soldier Staff Sergeant John J. Ulrich Jr. who was stationed in Nuremberg in 1946 and was a guard during the trials. The first 16 signatures are on the inside cover of the International Military Tribunal Guide, which itself is a rare collectible. Ulrich was assigned to guard duty while in the Big Red 1. and some other items from him are available as well. These signatures numbered by Staff Sergeant Ulrich are: #1. Goering, #2. Jodl, #3, Von Ribbentrop, #4. Keitel, #5. Kaltenbrunner, #6. Sauckel, #7. Schirach, #8. Frick, #9. Funk, #10. Streicher, #11. Frank, #12. Raeder, #13. Speer, #14. Rosenberg, #15. Seyss Inquart, #16, Fritsche. The Remaining signatures were acquired on separate note cards and also numbered in Ulrich’s handwriting. Rumor is that certain people did not want to sign the same document as the others and had to be obtained individually. These signatures are #17. Von Papen, #18. Neurath, #19. Schacht, #20. Doenitz and #21. Hess. We can see that the Hess Signature is on a different card stock and Ulrich likely had a hard time obtaining it and either had to trade with his buddies to get it or get it at a later date from the others when the same cardstock was used. There are two “Key Cards” which tell us what signature belongs to whom. These were both done by Ulrich as well and his handwriting matches the numbers on the signatures as well. You can further see his troubles obtaining the Hess signature on the first Key Card as #21. Hess is in a different color ink. On the second Key Card they are all the same ink with the addition of their sentence. Chronologically speaking, this card was made by Ulrich last. Also included are two Cheat sheet index cards which I do not know if they were made later or were supplied to the guards to help them. A super rare treat to have all these signatures on one page and relatively easy to display.
