SMGL-2579 Karl Smidt , Admiral Signature on letter and portrait

(1903 – 1984) German admiral, commanded Destroyer Units Z12 and Z27, a recipient of the Knight’s Cross. Pair of signed items, includes a Typed letter on his personal letterhead,  Nov. 12, 1971, apparently sending a signed photograph. The letter states that he is thanking Johnsen for the original letter to him (Smidt) and that he is happy to hear Johnsen is studying German History. He also humbly accepts Johnsen’s’ praise to Smidt for being a great war time Admiral.

Lightly toned and a bit ragged at top, else fine. SOLD WITH: a Studio Portrait, 5.25 x 7.25 black and white matte finish, a chest-up pose showing Smidt in wartime uniform, signed and hand-dated ‘1971’ in the white bottom margin. A really nice frameable set. A great opportunity to get a nice two signature set.
