Description

This Henkels has no signs of ever being taken down. The pommel nut is more than finger tight. The grip to guard fitment is tight. There is a chip on the top reverse. The front top right of the grip has a little bit of lifting to the wood, which if not careful, may lead to another small piece coming off. If you don’t drop it or snag it on something i think you will be fine long term though. The lower guard is marked “OST” which is one of the known supply areas for J.A. Henkels. The blade does have some issues as we can see some deep scaring from some water contact. This blade had a layer of cosmoline on it, which is why much of the blade still looks brand new. Unfortunately, the protective coating was not put on adequately and left us with some oxidation in seemingly random places. Luckily, the maker mark side still looks really good, and the logo looks great. The scabbard is the proper early type with nickel fittings and an anodized scabbard. The ball tip has a dent, which is common, but it’s not completely smashed. The scabbard shell is dent free and the finish is in good shape with some moderate wear. The screw heads appear to be unturned. The belt clip leather is starting to get frail and could use some leather conditioner.

With untouched SA daggers becoming a rarity these days, I’m sure this one will be in someone’s collection in no time.
