Description
A difficult signature to find due to Fritz Dyeing relatively early in 1969, before the collector craze began for the signatures of these guys. He signed these cards fairly regularly and some people claim the signatures on these are war time because the card itself is war time. I’m not willing to claim that. this one is done in pencil
- Frauenheim won the Ritterkreuz with U-101 in August 1940; later on he would also earn the DKiG with the staff of the Kleinkampfverbände.
- Wartime postcard produced by W. Willrich, sized 15×10 cm, with typed translation by an American collector on the back.
- Fritz Frauenheim was a German U-boat commander of the Second World War. From September 1939 until retiring from front line service in December 1940, he sank 19 ships for a total of 78,853 gross register tons, and damaged two others. He was a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross of Nazi Germany.
