SMGN-1372 First Model Luftwaffe dagger by Herder

This is a later style with all aluminum fittings with the exception of the roundels which are press fit brass or copper plate into the aluminum. Im not sure if Herder transitioned out of this to full aluminum for costs savings like other firms but it would make sense. I do like the look of these pieces though because the roundel Kind of pops out at you. The scabbard leather shows some wear and is worn through on the lower section that could come in contact with seats and such over time. The upper mount screws seem to have been pinged over, not sure why. Maybe the fitting was lose at one time. There are a few dents in the scabbard from that process.  The grip leather has some wear spots and is missing the grip wire. The blade is nickel plated as you would expect and shows signs of light oxidation and finish loss throughout. Not a perfect example but not too bad if you are looking for an aluminum version.
