Description
An extremely scarce maker, being rated an 8 out of 10 on the McSarr rarity scale. It is estimated that only about 1,000 of these were made. We usually see these with the NS (Niedersachsen) area mark on the lower guard and this one is marked as such. The blade has some light superficially oxidation but no major pitting. The blade has a good amount of cross gross graining visible and no dings or chips the edge or tip. The fittings are all nickel as you would expect on an early dagger. The grip appears to be a red brown stained cherry. There are a few marks from the belt clip and more modern wear spot, but that can be touched up easily I think. There are no cracks or chips on this grip and it will last forever if treated properly. The SA enamel and the grip eagle are snug, factory originals. The early anodized scabbard is in great shape with no dents or scratches and most of the original finish present. A hard thing to find these days. The ball end fitting has a dent in it, but still displays well. The screws show evidence of being turned many many years ago. I would assume the original SA mann changed out the scabbard fittings or the scabbard shell at some point. We know there was a booming replacement parts business for these during the 3rd Reich days. Comes with the early nickel belt clip. If you are looking to add a harder to find SA dagger to your collection, don’t wait on this. Might be 10 years before you see another.
