Description
These presentation axes with acid etched heads are quite rare and very desirable. This one is a 60th birthday present to a Hauptmann Koller from the members of the Detmold volunteer fire department.
This axe is value priced because of the oxidation evidence on the head. Normally, this would be more like $1500. So this opens the door to some other collectors for an honest axe at a more affordable price. The axe head is iron, chrome plated then acid etched in a deluxe style with lots of intricate detail. Each of these axes were made to order, so it’s typical to not be able to find the same exact design in other collections. For that reason, some people just collect axes. The hanger plates or wear guards are also steel and chrome plated. The personalized plate is made the same way and is hand engraved. The wood handle is in excellent shape with no major damage out side of a few small dings and dents. Moving down to the butt end, there is a nickel collar with a screw in solid brass ball that has been plated as well.
This is a great addition to any edged weapon collection. They don’t come around often so don’t wait on it.
