These donation receipts were given to donor citizens of Nazi Germany who donated metal on the Fuhrer’s birthday in the war of 1940. Metallspende des Deutschen Volkes zum Geburtstag des Fuhrers im Kriegsjahr 1940, translates into ?Metal donation of the German people for the birthday of the Fuhrer in the war of 1940?. The organizer for the metal donations was the Reich Commissioner for metals. Hitler’s birthday was on April 20, 1940. The German people donated metal they had in their homes – lead, copper, iron, bronze, etc. and in return for their sacrifice, they received a certificate of appreciation.
