Description

This is an awesome grouping! First, you get a top shelf EK2 with a mint condition core (ferrous), nice even patina to the silver rim with no damage and an original ribbon. Paired with that is his EK2 award document dated January 7, 1945.  Then, you get his black wound badge which is in oxidized state but is maker marked 32 (Wilhem Hobacher). This is paired with the award document dated November 3 1943. Also included, is a “Personalausweis” which gives Paulus authorization to wear a Red Cross armband. Dated May 1, 1945, just a few days before the war ended.  So he became a field medic at some point, but it doesn’t look like he started out in that capacity. The other medical form says that he passed a medical coarse and exam at a war hospital, dated June 30, 1945. It is signed by a Chief of Surgery and a Senior physician of internal disease. Finally, and also one of my favorite things is his allied release document dated September 7, 1945. So, this guy survived the war and somehow kept all his medals and documents together. A nice find for the DRK collector or just about anyone looking for a real nice grouping.
