SMGM-3669 200×335 Reichskriegsflagge marine marked with period repairs

I’ve never asked this much for a Kriegsflagge before but I like this one so much I don’t mind if it never sells! lol . The material of this flag I’ve never had the pleasure of holding in my hands before this one. It’s coarser and not the typical fabric we see. I’m assuming it’s an earlier type that was phased out due to durability issues or standardization across the industry. The flag markings are correct and read Reichskriegs Flg. 200/335 Berliner FahnenFabrik Geitel & Co Berlin. The Military Kriegs marine stamp is also there. The writing is a bit faded which we would expect from a flag like this that’s seen heavy use. On to the repairs! The repairs were made in at least two separate reconstructive attempts. We can see this by the two different thread colors used and two slightly different shades of red used from doner NSDAP banners. Both end corners have been reconstructed as well as the very edge. There are also multiple patches around the flag. The only reason i can think of that this flag was not simply replaced is that the ship or location of the base had no access to a new flag. Maybe a Uboat floating around a long way form home? Another naval ship more likely? A remote KM base? Who knows. All i know is that this is the coolest KM flag I’ve come across. If you want a mint flag, don’t bother. If you want a flag with KM markings, unusual materials and potentially some great history..this is your baby.
