SMGQ-0235 West Wall Medal L15 marked

Well, I know it’s a lot to ask for a common west wall medal, however this is not your typical version. First, west wall medals are not as often found marked at all. Second, this L15 marking backs up the discovery and conclusion that the Friedrich Orth firm screwed up it’s understanding of how they were supposed to implement their new “L/14” LDO designation with their existing PKZ 15 number. For some reason, they just tossed a “L” in front of their existing 15 and called it a day. They may have made these ASSUMING their LDO number would be the same as their PKZ number and then … Scheissen! Too late to fix…bag em up and send em out!  So, even though marked L15, this is not a Otto Schickle made award.  More info can be had on this in Maerz & Stimson’s War Merit 1st Class book. All that said, this would be a desirable example in a medal collection.
