Description

This is the earliest version of this dagger as we can tell from the 1933 style Eickhorn Squirrel. The hilt is marked Fü 14 as well as the scabbard throat. The blade is in good shape with what i would call average wear and tear. There are few small knicks in the spin of the blade. The stag grips look awesome with no issues. It seems like the top screw and spanner nut was replaced due to the brass color. the original likely just got loose and fell out. The hilt is the desirable early nickel with a silver plate. Unfortunately, most of the silver has been polished away..we can still see old polishing compound in the guard grooves. The scabbard is stellar. It is dent free with near mint condition paint remaining. The upper and lower fittings are nickel plated steel and near mint as well. One of the lower screws shows evidence of turning and there is a little tool mark near the scabbard throat. A sure indication that at some point the scabbard was taken down for a new paint job. When, is anyone’s guess. It has a lot of things going for it, so it should be a nice addition to your collection.
