Description

This is a fantastic dagger! This is a very rare maker, having likely produced only a few hundred or so daggers or lets say less then 1,000. When you are speaking about a dagger where there are estimates as high as 2 million, you can see this maker would be very desirable for any SA/NSKK collector. The grip on this dagger is a beautiful red cherry color with no chips or damage. The fittings are of the early nickel style and the lower guard is marked “SW” (S?dwest). SW is the only known area mark for this maker and all K&R daggers should have this mark (or blank). On to the blade we are not let down and find a fabulous example! There is no evidence of oxidation, no heavy scratched or dinged ends. Most all of the beautiful cross graining is still present. The scabbard has matching early nickel fittings, including one of the best condition hangers ive seen in some time. The scabbard is period painted over a brown anodized original layer, telling us that the owner was originally in the SA and transferred over to the NSKK later. This was a common practice but its rare to be able to see the base layer so clearly to even be able to see that it was anodized. Over all, this is an excellent piece in top condition that would be very nice in an advanced SA dagger collection, or maybe just get one awesome one like this and be done!
