Description
Oh man do I like this dagger! For one, the maker name always draws a smirk or funny joke so it keeps us entertained with only a name! On a serious note, the condition of this example is very nice, I mean a 9 out of ten, you just don’t see many SA daggers this good overall. It’s a relatively common maker with proper SW area marked early nickel fittings. The cherry colored wood grip is very pretty having gorgeous woodgrain and texture with no chips or cracks, just some small dents from the hanger. The blade is a true beauty, being a 9.5 out of 10 on its own. No major oxidation, no heavy scratches or dents on the edges, not even a light sharpening that we sometimes see. It’s got some light runner marks but is otherwise untouched and retains all of its original cross graining. The scabbard on this example is superb because it retains 100% of the factor anodizing and about 90% of the lacquer! You rarely see early daggers with this amount of finish remaining! There is a small dent, but it does not detract from the overall look. The fittings are the proper early nickel as well and are in good shape but do show some wear and a ding or two on the ball end. Pretty common for these since they were knock around daggers in a literal sense, being worn all the time in beer halls and such! We also have a very nice hanger with fantastic leather and no major damage. Over all, this is a top notch example of an early SA. For the money, you will find many dealers charging you the same price for a dagger no where near this condition. So don’t wait!
