SMGL-2145 Wehrpass & Paper work lot for well Decorated Soldier Walter Gockel Panzer Grenadier Regiment 129 *SOLD

A fantastic offering for a soldier killed in action in a defensive position. The Soldier was an Oberleutnant in a Panzer Grenadier regiment and according to the generic death notice (included), he was awarded the iron cross 2nd class, war merit cross second class, and an assault badge, although it doesn’t specify which type, I would assume it’s a Panzer Assault badge. In his well documented Wehrpa?, it does have the Krim Sheild noted as an award as well as the above mentioned. The Krim Shield, was added post mortem. The Wherpass Is in excellent condition, as he was likely drafted soon after he obtained it and it when straight to army HQ for safe keeping after he was given his soldbuch. It even has a super hard to find Wehrpass protective case! In this lot you also get his april ’43 military death/ discharge notice (I’m not sure what the German term for this is). I think the best thing about this set is the heart felt personalized letter to Welters father (Richard) From His Commanding officer (Hauptmann).
