SMGL-2156 2nd pattern Luftwaffe dagger w/repair

Out of stock

This is an unmarked dagger, and these are usually attributed to smaller cottage makers, especially when found with brass wire wrap and wood filled grips such as this. This one is in good shape over all, but does have a repair made to the cross guard. If you look closely you will see that a backing plate has been expertly fitted to the inside to mend the swastika back to the eagle. The break is so sharp that the repair is almost un noticeable. As good as this repair is, it does set the guard at a slight angle, creating a snug fit where the scabbard throat touches the inside. It also creates a small gap on where the ferrule meats the guard as seen on the reverse. The scabbard has a small ding on the lower portion of one side. Nothing too distracting though. The grip shows normal wear and no cracks. The blade has a slight bend to the tip which is barely noticeable. There is a slight haze on the blade due to some light surface oxidation that was cleaned up. Overall, if you are looking for a decent “starter” Luftwaffe dagger, then this is a great option. You can always upgrade to something a little nicer later.
