Description

A simple late war example with plated zinc fittings. The features are late period which include an aluminum grip eagle, RZM blade, no area marks on the lower guard and a painted scabbard. This isn’t a perfect dagger, but for the money I think you are doing ok. The blade is the real stand out, having only a small amount of light oxidation and most of the original cross graining beautifully preserved. The scabbard shows moderate oxidation but no dents. The lower ball end fitting is remarkably dent free, which is very hard to find on these daggers as they were always dropped. There is evidence that someone attempted to “knock down” the high spots on the cross guards caused by the oxidation and plate lifting with some sandpaper or other abrasive. Unfortunately they left the grip on when they did that and sanded into the wood a little bit. Still, I think you get a lot of dagger for your money here.
