SMGL-2528 Roon Pattern Heer Sword by Eickhorn

These Roon Field Marshall series swords were expensive due to the hand engraving that was done. No pre molded cast parts on this bad boy! This one is 38.5 inches from blade tip to the top of the dove head. The scabbard adds another 2 inches to that. The scabbard is dent free with typical light corrosion. The Sword blade is plated with a light haze that has developed and some very minor oxidation marks with some light scratches prevalent near the tip. It’s not a bad blade but not perfect, let’s give it a 7.5. The solid brass hilt and guard has surely seen a fair amount of polishing over it’s life I’m sure. The eagle I believe, was die struck on these as we can see the right wing is weakly defined at the top due to this process. Still really nice. It hasn’t been touched since the war most likely as we can see a few heavier oxidation spots on the guard. A nice sword moderately priced due to some condition issues. If you need a decent Roon for your collection, don’t pass this up!
