Description
These eagles are pretty awesome and actually rarer than Reichsbahn eagles. They have a 16in wings span and are usually marked with V’s like this one. Currently it is not known if the V is a maker mark or something else, but it is found on some DRB eagles as well. The DRP eagles differ from DRB eagles in design as well, not just size. The most obvious being the feather design and the way the top of the wing is scooped up and out. Many times, these eagles are found with red painted roundels, which was likely due to the color of the vehicles. This one has the paint but was cleaned a few times likely with something like a wire brush and much of the paint was removed. The eagle was mounted using 4 threaded screw posts. You can tell from the damage to the eagles left wing (crack) and the way the threads are stripped out in an upward fashion that this was pried off the vehicle pulling up from the bottom. The crack is in no danger of getting worse and is structurally sound. There is a slight bend to the wing in the same spot, telling us that this was the last stubborn bolt remaining when the Souvenir hunter ripped it off. The marked for DRP and DRB eagles has gone through the roof and they continue to be a good investment, so don’t wait on it.
