A rare pre 1933 tinnie regarding the Gregor Strasser Haus which was used as the main SS building in East Saxony. Great color remains on the painted portion and there is minor wear. A great tinnie!
Since about September 1932, the NSDAP office has been located in the building “Wiener Straße 13”, later, from about 1933, the NSDAP district leadership Dresden had its business premises here.
Report of the Landesinformationsamt Dresden from September 1932: “NSDAP. On 3.9. a new NSDAP home was consecrated in Dresden. It was given the name ‘Gregor-Straßer-Haus’ in honour of the party’s Reich Organisation Leader and long-standing top candidate of the Saxon constituencies. The keynote speaker was Reichstag member Schemm (Bayreuth). […] At a rally on the evening of the same day on the sports field of the association ́Dresdensia ́ about 10,000 people participated. The following spoke: Member of the Reichstag, Gregor Straßer. […]”. In the period from November 1933 to April 1934, the General SS in East Saxony was organized from here.
An SS-Wache was set up to guard the office.
About Strasser from Wikipedia: Gregor Strasser (also German: Straßer, see ß; 31 May 1892 – 30 June 1934) was an early prominent German Nazi official and politician who was murdered during the Night of the Long Knives in 1934. Born in 1892 in Bavaria, Strasser served in World War I in an artillery regiment, rising to the rank of first lieutenant. He joined the Nazi Party (NSDAP) in 1920 and quickly became an influential and important figure. In 1923, he took part in the abortive Beer Hall Putsch in Munich and was imprisoned, but released early for political reasons. Strasser joined a revived NSDAP in 1925 and once again established himself as a powerful and dominant member, hugely increasing the party’s membership and reputation in northern Germany. Personal and political conflicts with Adolf Hitler led to his death in 1934 during the Night of the Long Knives.
