SMGM-2375 Iron Cross 1st class by Schauerte & H?hfeld screw back L/54 marked *SOLD

Ok, this is a rare cross but it has a few issues which is why the price is so low for such a hard to find maker/style. First, it’s missing the back plate. Not a huge deal, as this firm used a generic style that you can find on other makers. The frame, at one point was stepped on or smashed in between something, causing a indent and warping of the lower frame arm. This weight or force also caused the frame halves to separate. There looks to have been an amateurish repair with some sort of adhesive, but clearly this didn’t’ fix the issue. The frame halves are noticeably separated on the bottom but not at the top. There seems to be no risk of further separation. I’m sure all this could be fixed with the help of a jeweler, but it might not be cost effective. As it stands, its still not a bad looking example. It’s not character and a reasonable price tag. I would be asking $300 for this cross all day long without the damage.
