SMGM-2376 Luftwaffe Sword by SMF Numbers Matching scabard/hilt

Out of stock

Here is a reasonable price on a Luftwaffe sword if you are in the market. The leather on this one isn’t perfect and that’s where you can save some money. These swords with perfect leather are hard to find and when they do show up they are $1500+. The Original hanger is still present (they are sewn on) but it is rather dry and you would take care to avoid messing around with it too much. The blade on this sword is in excellent shape, still showing the nice original chrome shine. There are a few small oxidation spots but nothing overly distracting. The blade is nicely etched with the “SMF” Seated King and has the inspector mark “5” witch we commonly see as well. The cross guard is in good shape with some minor wear and the rotated swastika has most of the gold was still present. The wire wrap is in very good shape and wraps around the leather wrapped grip that would be a contender for a restoration at some point. It’s not falling apart but it is heavily worn. The pommel is in excellent shape as well showing just some minor wear. Both the scabbard and the cross guard are marked “12”, insuring that these pieces were fitted originals form the factory. All in all, an excellent first choice for a Luftwaffe sword that you can always upgrade later as funds allow.
