Description

E.&.F. Hörster Lion heads don’t seem to show up too often. They all seem to have the same guard design but vary in terms of the back straps. I’m not sure what model Hörster calls these, but Angolia had them as “unattributed “. If you have access to a Hörster catalogue let me know. This is a all brass construction with chrome blade. The blade is Hörster marked but hard to see under the Langet. The red glass eyes are in great shape. The chrome blade is in good shape with no rust or lifting chrome. The tip does have a curl to it, likely dropped at some point, but it’s not too bad. The scabbard has the original paint and is in pretty good shape with relatively minor wear and oxidation. There is a small dent about halfway down on the hanger clip side. There is a wooden runner in there that is kinda loose. the scabbard throat is marked “776” this might be a mark for the internal blade fit, which seems to measure about 77.6mm. total length from drag to top of the lion head is just over 36in. A nice untouched example.
