Description
The guards on this dagger are a little grey due to the nickel plate lifting. The tang nut has tool marks and is only finger tight. The grip has good fitment to the guards for a late period example but does have a chip as you can see. The eagle is the aluminum type and is expertly set into the wood. There is a small imperfection on the SA roundel. The blade has a light sharpening grind to it and could possibly be eliminated with some precision work. The blade has runner marks and light greying throughout. The scabbard has two small dents on one side. The paint is nearly all there but shows a significant amount of spidering. The lower ball end has a few small dents but isn’t smashed real bad like we sometimes see. The top a bottom fitting show signs of the screws being removed at some point and the top ones were never put in all the way. I think the person who did it didn’t want to force them and strip them. I think with a nice sharp edge screwdriver and some penetrating oil you can fix this. So, this is more of a entry level piece with these things considered. It’s all original and priced with these issues in mind.
