Description
If you like your daggers salty, uncleaned and in as found condition, this one might be up your ally! The blade is the plain style with no maker mark. The fittings and scabbard are all correct for WKC and it was also acquired with another WKC marked dagger. Because of this, I think both belonged to one man. This one was likely his cadet dagger and the other one we will offer is a nice etched version. The blad eon this, though simple, is in good shape aside from a slight bend at the tip. This might be worth fixing since it’s not a plated blade. The scabbard is worn of most of the gilding but some remains. The brass has taken on a typical orange/red patina from oxidation. The scabbard has a few small dents but nothing too distracting. The portepee is the later celluloid style and has come apart at the bottom. Strangely enough, it suites the dagger well as it stands. The grip is crack free and shows all the original dirt in the recesses from years of not being touched. The pommel is firmly in place at the correct orientation. A nice dagger for the new navy collector.
