Silver nickel cross bearing cross and Latin “Hinc Victoria” (translation: Hence Victory) in centerpiece on obverse, with reverse bearing Latin “FIDEI ET VIRTUTI’ (translation: Loyal and meritorious) and bearing “PP” “”Pius” “IX” “1867” Cross has original ribbon but no brooch. Medal is hand engraved with “1497” and “1.DE.L”
