Biography
Karl-Günther von Hase was born on 15 December 1917 at the “Gut Wangern” in Breslau, Silesia as the son of Oberst of the Landespolizei and Oberstleutnant Günther von Hase (1881 – 1948) and Ina Hicketier (1882 – 1972).
During the Second World War, von Hase fought in Poland, France and the Soviet Union. He finally reached the rank of Major im Generalstab. After the attempt to kill Adolf Hitler on 20 July 1944, von Hase was relieved from his duties in the Generalstab as a punishment because of the involvement of his uncle in the coup. von Hase was then sent to front line duties in Poland. Here he finally became a Prisoner of War of the Soviets.
On 13 February 1945, von Hase married Renate Stumpff (born on 15 March 1925, the daughter of Generaloberst Hans-Jürgen Stumpff) by radio connection from his Soviet imprisonment. The couple married in Rendsburg for the church after his relief from the Prisoner of War camp on 30 December 1949. The couple had a total of five daughters.
