SMGQ-0428 1939 Silver Wound Badge by Wächtler & Lange “100” Marked

Description
Finding silver wound badges with this much finish left is a difficult thing to do. Most makers did not have a good system for keeping the silver finish from disappearing from the zinc base metal. The finish on this one is only missing from a few high spots including the swastika. The make did a white frosting over a silvered base finish. The base finish has a champaign looking patina now. The catch is marked 100 at the base. There is a small crack at the hinge but it appears to be a die issue and has no effect on the function of the pin. A nice example.
