SMGR-0085 1914 Iron Cross First Class by “KO” Silver

This is the finest KO marked EK1 I have ever encountered. Even barely used in a case they don’t look this good. I had to really look it over to make sure it wasn’t fake. I see a correct three-part construction with the correct number “fonts”, crown and hardware. Apparently, A KO cross was not able to be privately purchased so the German army saw no need to have them proof marked. So, Silver marked KO crosses are “usually” bad. This one isn’t silver marked anyhow, so it doesn’t leave us with any unanswered questions. The paint is high gloss which I have seen on better quality versions from this maker. It shows no signs of being repainted to taken apart. Killer!
