SMGL-24720 Early “Deputized” SS Police ID with Early SS brown shirt photo

This Ausweis is pretty exciting (to me anyway). It’s not often that we come across items that are historically important in a sea of “ho hum” IDs and workbooks. Just after the Reichstag Fire, Goering Deputized members of the SS and SA to assist in the search for Communists, Social Democrats and other political undesirables. This oil cloth ID identifies the bearer as a police deputy and was issued in March 1933, just after the fire. The bearers’ picture shows him in an early SS Brown shirt and is extremely clear! The back of the photo is hand annotated “SS Sturm Adolf Hitler”. States bearer is authorized to carry a weapon. The original binding has come off. This ID is really killer and would be a highlight of many Police collections!
