SMGO-0075 SA Kepi for Niederrhein Group

This nice SA coffee can style hat is sized at 60cm. The hat is the hat is the ridged style with reinforced sides and wire stiffeners. One of the stiffeners is loose but remains neatly tucked under the sweat band. The sweatband is in very god shape and still relatively soft and not too brittle. The cardboard in the bill or brim is cracked or bent close to the middle. A common thing for these as the wearers wer trying to contour the brim just like we do today with baseball hats. There are a few noticeable stains on the tan cotton of the hat but nothing to disagreeable. The black felt shows a few moth holes but again, not too bad from a presentation point of view. The later style political eagle is a desirable cupal type, showing the copper layer where the white silver frosting has worn away. The chin strap is in fantastic condition with minor wear. Inside the cap there is a bit of mold/mildew that has developed at some point. Not a perfect Kepi but presents well and will look great in your collection!
