SMGO-0328 Luftwaffe 1st Model Dagger by SMF

This is an early period dagger with all nickel fittings and hardware. The fittings show a fair amount of use but still more attractive and harder to find than a pot metal example. The scabbard leather has been replaced as we can see from the less than perfect seam. It’s hard to say when this was done because the leather is sol old and worn. We can see that the two bottom screws were replaced with hex or allen style screws which i do not believe were being used in Germany at the time. This would mean the repair was likely after the war some time.  The chain has 9 links on the short side and 10 on the long side. The blade shows a significant amount of runner wear from dirt and sand getting in the scabbard. The blade is nickel plated and still looks good outside of that.
