SMGQ-0252 Luftwaffe Ground Assault badge by R.K.

A stellar badge in zinc. Two piece construction with two rivets. I’ve seen this before on this maker. The rivet whole under the swastika is left empty. There clearly was no rivet ever in place. I wonder if a certain amount of these eagles had the studs broken off or not formed correctly and they were instructed to use them anyway. These R.K. badges will often also show a grind mark on the lower half of the badge but is then factor darkened. This indicates some type of issue with the badges after they were struck. Likely the surface wasn’t working for the proper adhesion of the catch, so the badges needed to be ground to allow for a better solder point. A phenomenal condition badge overall.
