SMGQ-0476 Named WW2 era purple heart Killed in Action 1944 Italy

1 in stock

John W. Hodges was in the 5th Army, 351st Infantry Regiment, 88th Infantry Division when he died of his wounds in Italy, September 30th, 1944. This Heart comes with photocopies of documents: Head stone application in Persia Tennesse; Military Registration card; Newspaper clipping regarding him being MIA. In other research, his niece said that her grandparents’ house burned down, and they lost everything. This would explain the rough condition of the award and the fact that the ribbon has been changed out to a modern type, as it likely came to the collector market with no ribbon from fire damage. The reverse has his name done in fancy hand engraved script and is written as Johnny W. Hodges
