Description
Let’s cut right to the chase and talk about the grip. It’s painted. Yes, it looks amazing. The color is great, the age to it looks great and detail looks great. Im not sure how they were able to do such a nice job. They must have taken the rifles off, but i can’t see any evidence or tapering or unprofessional work. Upon disassembly, you can see they left the “collar” of the original celluloid around the top and bottom to insure a proper fit of the upper and lower grip fittings. Personally, i would take this over an example with more than one crack any day. The Scabbard is in near mint condition. The frog seems to be a fancy example and is in unissued condition. The blade is not plated and is in stellar condition as well. The clam shell and guards show light wear and look great. The shooting eagle roundel on the clam shell is in really great shape showing only minor wear. The painted grip is the only thing keeping this baby’s price down. Identical in most regards to a pre 1945 except for the Eickhorn logo which is considered post war on all hunting and shooting cutlases when it’s an etch and not the accepted pre 1945 hard stamp.
