SMGO-0311 Transitional DLV Dagger By SMF

A scarce DLV transitional. These daggers have stapled fittings which were quickly abandoned and the design changed over to staple-less fittings. Some of these daggers are Luftwaffe marked with inspector stamps which would indicate they were issued to the Luftwaffe personnel. This one, has no stamps which indicates (we assume) they are strictly for DLV personnel. The ones with no stamps are much harder to come by. The long side of the chain has 13 links. The short side has 10 links and was either lengthened or repaired using two aluminum links from a later produced dagger. The rest of the links are all nickel as you would expect. The grip leather is in very good condition with no major issues. The Scabbard leather shows some wear and is a bit wavy as is typical with these transitionals. The scabbard for these are generally not metal but pressed carboard which is why they become wavy. The middle fitting shows a simplified staple and a repaired cut, indicating that it was removed completely for some reason and then put back on. The blade is the typical plated type with some wear and tear. A few nicks on the blade edges as well. This dagger has certainly seen some interesting things in it’s life time and if it could talk, im sure we would listen.
