Description
This sword has a 29inch high carbon blade that has a few small nicks in the edge from sword play. Light wear and no major oxidation. Beneath the Krebs logo is “cefis” which i assume is an acronym for something. On the other side in the ricaso area is the same word with the addition of H8 45. Im assuming these are some sort of inventory control numbers and that this sword was not owned by anyone and was inventory for parades and other events. It has a black washer which might be a replacement, as we normally see these swords with white washers. The lower grip ferrule is a little loose, Attributed to the wood grip shrinking most likely. It’s not an ebony wood grip, but rather a dyed and painted ash or similar grained wood. There is a small chip that is pale in color and how we can tell it’s not ebony. It may be possible to tighten the SS pommel nut and take the play out, but its safer to leave it this way. These NCO degen have threaded removable pommel nuts that go right onto the tang. The chrome plated D guard is in great shape with no oxidation and the same is true of the SS Rune pommel nut. The guard is SS marked as well as the scabbard throat. The scabbard is the typical NCO type with the normal steel drag. It is dent free with 90% of the original paint. “Horn” is scratched into the paint and this could be the American who brought it back or possibly one of the SS men who it was issued to for a longer period of time. A solid example.
