SMGP-1610 Bomber Clasp in Gold

This is a sweet bomber clasp in gold with 90% of the original gilding in place! This is an early tomback construction, two piece, with the darker bomb affixed to the center. This clasp has a few cracks on where the oak leaves meet the wreath. On the left side one of the cracks goes straight through and on the right it is superficial only on the surface. The badge is in no danger of breaking or further damage, as these cracks have not harmed the integrity of the badge. I think they formed when the awarded soldier tried to bed the clasp to make it more vaulted and fit to eh uniform better. You would have to apply a considerable amount of force to try and make the clasp straight, it’s a very strong metal. A fantastic award that not many people have in their collection.
